@Yasmin there are actually lots of convertible seats that can be used right away. It just depends on the seat. My toddler has the extend 2 fit but we got it around 6 months.
I don’t know if you have them in the US but I did weeks and weeks of research on this as I was also a passenger in a bad accident myself and every point you mentioned was so essential to me - i ended up with axkid minikid 4 Then when my little man was about 17 months old - i was the driver and i was in a horreeeeendousss accident (if you see the car you’d be shocked) and my boy came out UNSCATHED and seat hadn’t budged a cm. To the point that the paramedics were taking pictures of the car and seat and sharing them with hospital staff and later when we were finally in hospital being checked out, i was being told how it’s the talk of the a&e how much of a miracle it was. I replaced it with a new one of the same that’s how sure I was I’d gotten the right seat xxx
@GMF can be used right away and are safe and provide a supportive fit aren’t the same thing unfortunately
These are the top safety rated infant carriers in the UK. Not sure if any are available in the US
@Yasmin there is plenty of info out there directly from CPSTs, who are the certified experts in this area, about convertible seats that can be used safely from birth. Not sure where you are getting your information from.
@GMF the UK. We use infant carriers for babies
An infant carrier for a newborn is essential. You won’t get a good and safe fit in an extended rear facing seat until baby is quite a bit older x
