Overwhelmed with number of appointments

Can I decline pre birth visit from the community midwife ? Currently consultant led and I’m seeing the doctor and midwife on alternate weeks not to mention additional testing. I haven’t started maternity leave yet and we are in the process of packing up ready to move house so it’s just a lot at the moment. I mentioned this to my midwife and she told me I can skip the health visitor appointment but I’m curious to see what they have to say as she barely remembers anything we talk about and not had the best experience with her so far. Eg I’ve reminded her every appointment we are packing to move .I don’t have the energy to have her in my space and explain the situation again and end up being flagged for not being baby ready because we have boxes of stuff in the living room and the corridor has been taken over by the pram and car seat etc. Maybe I’m being sensitive because I’m very house proud and don’t like people visiting unless everything is in its place. And currently I don’t seem to be able to control anything so if it’s not necessary I would rather she doesn’t come to our house.

Yes it’s totally up to you. It sounds like life is stressful enough as it is. I declined the pre-visit from the Health visitor and had no issues.

They won’t mind the state of your house. I totally get you though. We started a big project before finding out I was pregnant then hubby broke his ankle when I was 11 weeks so it had to go on hold so our house wasn’t as I wanted when we had our visits including no bedroom ready for baby as it had to remain an office for longer due to hubby but it was all fine ☺️

Thank you both , I’ll have a word with her soon and see what she says.

I had a visit - she didn’t look around or anything, it was basically just a chat and she was very nice tbh.

Heath visitors are totally non-compulsary so decline without a further thought! X
