It’ll have to be long days for little ones in wraparound care :( Many fellow full time working mums in my workplace with school aged children. From what they have shared its breakfast clubs from around 7.30am and after-school clubs til 5.30/6pm.
@Vijyanti that's the same hours as full time parents putting their child in nursery
True. That’s what we currently do with our little one. It just feels worse at school age for some reason.
@Laura where is the information please on mandatory wraparound care? I didn’t know this was in development.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/wraparound-childcare-guidance-for-local-authorities This is the guidance from the government it states that by 2026 it'll be in place in all schools
I work 34 hrs over 4 days husband works 5 days, I'll likely be back full time when he goes to school. We would hope for one of us to do drop off and wfh and the other do pick up from an after-school club if we have one. This only works whilst my husband works from home though which may not be forever. I have a long (1hr) commute and wfh 1 day a week so i am worried about it
Yes we will be in that position but will just have to either do a teatime club or have an afterschool childminder. I think the difficulty is when you have one child in nursery and one in school as then that’s 2x drop offs and pick ups potentially!! 🤯
By the time our children are in school wraparound care will be mandatory for the schools to have available
