Car seat website

Does anyone have the link to the website that tells you if a car seat/s fit in your car?

Usually the manufacturer website, axkid for axkid, Joie for Joie etc. although this isn’t always accurate as they don’t test ALL cars so it may say your car isn’t suitable but it just hasn’t been tested. What’s the car and the car seat?x

It's the britax romer swivel in 2019 Honda civic

@Chiara if it’s got isofix, it’ll fit. It may impact leg room depending on passenger and in all honestly not a seat that would be highly recommended due to awkward inserts and put smaller babies chin to chest xx

Thank you! It wouldn't be used for an infant so I'm not overly concerned about the insert, it's for my 1 year old who is 97th percentile for everything lol. Not too bothered about passengers either as it's only ever me and my daughter int he car x

@Chiara okay so this seat would only last until 2.5ish years old. On the 97th centile you will need a 36kg seat ideally xx

Oh it says it goes up to age 7?

https://www.britax-romer.co.uk/car-seats/toddler/swivel/9252.html scroll right to the bottom and you can put your car details in. It should fit the two back passenger seats.

Swivel is harness to 105cm/18kg and then used as a high back booster until 125cm. 7 years old for an average size child. You’d still need another high back booster after this. And as Kiera has said it won’t last very long harnessed for a high centile bubba.

What Emily said x

@Kiera hi👋🏻 where do you find out the info about the car seats putting newborns in an awkward position? I'm looking at lots of car seat options which all have the correct safety standards but i can't find any extra info, not even on forums etc

I know it’s now what you asked but wanted to pop on your say a spin seat won’t last a high centile child like yours, it has a low harness limit, they advertise it up to 7 but realistically it won’t last long enough as a harnessed seat or a high backed booster as it has a low height limit for both so along the way around 2.5- 3 years old you’ll need another harnessed seat to last past 5 and then another high backed booster with a higher height limit too. Seats like this are a bit a false economy for a high centile child

@Helen Bump to booster is a good group to join on facebook

@Irita what exactly do you mean by harnessed seat? Really i need a swivel because my car is so low so it'll be really difficult to get a child in to a fix car seat when they get bigger. D9 you know of any other swivels that'd last a bit longer without the price going right up?

@Chiara I mean a seat with a harness, seat that has straps that hold the child in the seat. All spin seats on the market have a low height limit of 105cm, which a high centile child like yours will outgrow by 2.5-3 years old max. So at the point you will need another seat with a harness that has a higher height and weight limit to last until your little one can safely use an adult seat belt in a high backed booster, ideally that’s at least 5-5.5 years old. There’s only one spin seat with a 125cm height limit, which is Besafe beyond but it’s quite pricey and also has a low weight limit, which won’t work for a higher centile child either. If you’re wanting to replace it with a longer lasting one look at one of these Britax Max safe pro Axkid Movekid Britax safe-way M Besafe Stretch Axkid Minikid 4

@Chiara spin seats can be harder in low cars because the isofix base is really big, it makes the seat quite high up in the car. So you have to duck the baby down under the roof edge and then up into the seat, and that's harder than a low sided seat like the ones Irita mentioned. If your car is low, LO will be able to climb I to a low sided seat them selves as they get older, but that's really hard in a spin seat as they're so high up

@Helen just research, pages I’m on etc. If you want, post on this page and you’ll get help xx

Just an FYI I wouldn't be too worried about a swivel for the older kiddos. My two year old is also high percentile. She climbs into her own car seat now. At 2 years and 3 months.
