Start up INFO/purchases

Wondering if anyone had suggestions on the following: 1. Items got pre birth but never used 2. Items got post birth that you wished about sooner 3. What was your start up costs (I know can range depending on second hand vs new etc) 4. Did you sign up to any of the “baby box” companies, would you recommend!

Things we got but never used/returned: - Frida feeezer pads - frida witch hazel panty liners - perineal spray - baby swing (kept but kid has zero interest in it) - white noise machine (we just use a Google speaker we already had) 2. Things i wish I had sooner - snuggle me lounger (supervised use only) - bouncer - exercise ball to bounce her on - baby Einstein aquarium - bought the mesa 2 car seat wished I had bought the nuna or the clek (lighter and have adapters to a wide variety of travel strollers) - happiest sleepea baby comforter swaddles (we have a winter baby and typical swaddles are cold AF) 3. A few thousand...the biggest expenses being a new car seat...used stroller...miscellaneous items because we had a preemie. Everything else we got as gifts through our registry or bought used off FB. 4. Didn't do any baby boxes

I think how much you buy also depends on where you live and how easily accessible stores are to you/how fast Amazon/prime can deliver to you 1) bought adult diapers and pads (used but bought way too many, start with a small box) 2) bought a spritz bath - didn’t open it, never used it and returned it 3)didn’t buy peri bottle, used the hospital one. Needed it. 4) burp clothes - rarely used, ended up just using swaddles/my baby didn’t spit up much 5) bought way too many milk pads/storage bags, breastfeeding doesn’t work out for everyone Car seat biggest expense - I got the peg perego and very happy with it but do wish I explore more options other than uppababy etc @Molly I was discouraged from Nuna pipa bc lower weight limit - stroller(s) Things I used all the time: Swaddles/muslin blankets for everything Infant lounger (supervised) Bassinet Comfort recliner/rocker Baby bjorn all in one mesh carrier - still use it and my baby is 18 months and doesn’t like stroller 😅 Stroller

If you live somewhere where stores are easily accessible and have prime, I’d under buy! Can always pop out. My daughter was born at 5lb 7oz so I ended up needing to order a bunch of premie/newborn sleepers but truthfully she was just in blankets and doing skin to skin
