You can say no to cervical checks. Cervical checks don't tell you when labor is going to happen, but is part of the bishops score to see how well you would do for an induction. You can also go past due if you so choose and have further monitoring done.
It’s seems like your day your doc is wanting to do something your not comfortable with. Right? If you want your body to do its job naturally you/ hubby advocate that. As far as the balloon, I just had it for the first time in January of 2023 with baby #3 and for me it wasn’t bad because contractions are contractions just a painful. Would got me was when my water broke it’s was so hard! Scared me a little. But that was my experience. Every one is different. I would say give it try if your body isn’t doing what it’s supposed too. Good luck with delivery! Congrats!🎉
Baby girl don’t let them pressure you especially if you don’t have any health issues I went to 42 weeks
Don’t let them pressure you to induce, you can most certainly go past. My OB let me go to 41+5. I chose to induce at that point and about half way through labor started having complications with his heart rate being too low and in distress and it all ended in a traumatic emergency C-section. I know other ladies though who have gone past and been perfectly fine. This is a you decision, not your OBs. Also with the cervical check, for what it’s worth, my OB told me when I told him I was scared of the pain that if it’s painful, they’re not doing the cervical check correctly. He told me it’s only supposed to be uncomfortable but there shouldn’t be pain with it. Got mine done and it was exactly that, no pain just a discomfort.
i had to get the balloon for my induction, it was uncomfortable but mainly just felt like a tampon and you feel contractions almost immediately but after getting the epidural i couldn’t feel any contractions or them checking my dilation at all. stand up for yourself and ask if you can wait it out! if the answer is no just take some deep breaths and trust you’re in good hands. during my labor i had to do things i wasn’t comfortable with for the safety of my baby, as someone with little to no trust in anyone i had to suck it up and let them do their thing. it’s hard and it’s frustrating but you got this babes, you’re stronger than you may think 🩷
