Same position here too, it’s so annoying and stressful. I have no solutions sadly. If it reassures you, my first ate a wonderful balanced diet, tried everything, liked most things, it was fantastic. He’s 4 now and only eats beige processed food so I figure it doesn’t really matter long term x
@Rebecca I think I might have to accept it too and stop beating myself about it. He's gaining good weight too x
@Alexandra It did make me feel better, I think as long as he's eating healthy food it's all good xx
Im the same situation xx
I have a very picky eater however I have found things he loves and work around that. You said he will repeatedly eat spag bol.. my son was the same then I realised he likes the sauce. He stopped liking spaghetti a while ago so I had to get him little pasta shapes and then I took his regular pasta sauce and started altering it. One day I’d add mascarpone to it until it was almost white. He also likes macaroni cheese so I started making it thinner and adding grated courgettes and bacon. Try and find what it is about the spag bol that your son likes. If it’s the pasta then change up the different things you can do with pasta and try some orzo, if it’s the sauce then try and change the sauce up. Slowly start adding something he don’t usually eat in with his dish until you can give them alone. My son will eat anything with a tomato base (so will also eat stew now) and anything with his pasta shapes. My son has a few more favourites though so I have more room to mix and match.
@Shay I'm going to try that now actually. Never thought of it like that. I think he mostly likes the sauce and mince. I tried different pastas especially when I run out of spaghetti he doesn't care about the pasta much. I'll try macaroni or stew. I sometimes add some veg in the sauce so he gets in some veg without eating them raw which I think is helping! Thank youu
You’re welcome, I hope it works. another dish my son loves is moussaka, it’s essentially the same thing but no pasta and aubergine and béchamel instead. I serve with some mashed potato on the side but some people put thin slices inside the actual dish. They call it Greek lasagne (lasagne being another dish). I got him to actually like rice the other day by cooking it in a little stock and tomato purée (with some spices, onions and garlic) he loved it🤦🏽♀️
I'm in the exact same position. I'll cook various meals/snacks and everything but he just isn't interested in even trying them. I've just accepted, as long as he is eating and gaining weight, I'm not going to force him nor stress myself out over it x
