I was actually really overwhelmed by all the information they gave me at my appointment and forgot to ask questions. I wish I asked more about vaccines because they say all the things they think should have for you or the baby but I wish I asked more questions so I could make a more confident decision on them.

@Gemma oh, vaccines for yourself during pregnancy? I wasn’t aware about any vaccines.. thanks for sharing! As a FTM, I have no idea what questions should I ask that could help me until next appointment.

Same as Gemma, they give you so much information and ask so many questions it’s a bit overwhelming. With the vaccines they recommend Covid and Flu asap. Then whooping cough and RSV. I doubt I’ll get the first two but need to do more research into the second before I get these done.

Honestly you probably don’t even need to ask questions there is a lot of info plus they give you a lot of resources. The only thing I asked was any websites to look up what medication I’m allowed to take if I get sick, my midwife was really nice she didn’t push for anything and gave me both sides for getting a vaccine

I had mine yesterday and I didn’t ask a question. My midwife told me everything and more and i left feeling totally fine, with loooooads of information to read. It was actually way more about me than about being pregnant/the baby, if that makes any sense!

I asked what vitamins I have to take during pregnancy and vaccination options.

It’s a very intense and long appointment so don’t get yourself too in your head as what you want to get out of it beyond just taking it all in :) they will be very thorough, but you can ask when you’re likely to know who your point person (midwife or consultant) will be throughout the pregnancy so you have a contact for any concerns, and which birthing locations are available in your trust so you can start to look into what might be right for you! I also always ask if there are any upcoming building works which might impact future appointment availability/location (this happened with our first!) and how they are doing in terms of staffing (were very understaffed with my second which meant we had to make plan B and C for birth depending on how many people would be on shift during labour) xx
