Is this normal ?

My baby girl is 9 months, and only now she has been accepting puree food. It has been a journey. But when I try to introduce to her finger foods or something that's not mashed properly (sort of watery) she rejects it and she gags a lot. So were not sticking to purees and etc... When she gags I panic thinking she's choking. I'd love to introduce more foods to her... How can I do it ?

Gagging is all part of the learning process it's so hard to listen to and scary at times but it's their body having the right response so they don't choke. The more you offer different foods the more she will slowly get used to them. If you want to do mashed maybe try preloading the spoon and let her feed herself or really soft finger foods like steamed veg or ripe bananas as a starting point. Melty sticks are great too she can practice feeding herself but they just dissolve so you don't need to worry x

Ye gagging is completely normal although scary try your hardest not to panic and persevere because you can end up scaring them when they see you panic. If they’re gagging, coughing or making any type of noise then you know they can breathe fine and they’re breathing isn’t obstructed x

Thank you ladies !
