Toddler Car Seat

Hello! My boy is getting too big for his baby car seat and after a lot of research and reading posts in this group I’m still finding it really hard to decide which toddler seat is best for us! Hoping someone can help guide ☺️ He’s 13 months old, 10.6kg (75th centile) and 76cm (between 25-50th centiles). I’d like to keep him rear-facing as long as I can. Budget is flexible as I’d rather spend abit more if we’re getting a seat that works best for us. Other than safety (preference is to have passed the Plus Test), we’ll be using every day and across 2 cars (Tesla model 3 and Audi Q6) so priorities are comfort for baby, ease of getting him in and out and ease of transferring between cars. We currently have the Cybex Cloud Z with a base in each car that works pretty well for us. I like the idea of 360 swivel. Seats I’ve seen: BeSafe Beyond 360 - I like it swivels and has the flexibility to be rear or forward facing. I’m familiar with isofix, we could get 2 bases for each car. BeSafe Stretch: Looks like leg room might be more comfortable. Wondering if seat belt fixing makes it more of a hassle to transfer between cars. Axkid: have done online comparison of Minikid 4, Movekid, One3 but really unsure of the practical differences and which would be best for us. I’m open to guidance on these or any other seat suggestions, Thanks!

As they get bigger swivel seats can be a nightmare as you have to lift them higher to get them in. It takes them longer to be able to climb in as well as it's higher and harder for them. I have a minikid3 (same as the 4 but a different headrest) and really like it, if you have a spare set of tethers in each car it's not much more effort to move round than the isofix seats. I also don't like the wobble on isofix and prefer a seatbelt/tether set up. I can uninstall and reinstall it in about 2 minutes, the axkids have self tensioning tethers which are a game changer.

We have the besafe stretch and it’s an amazing seat! Super comfy and I need the leg room as lo is over 75th centile in height 🙈 definitely get an extra set of tethers (1 set for each car) and then moving the seat between the cars is really easy xx

On average do they last until age 4? I know it varies per child

@Rachel yes it varies depending on the seat. My besafe stretch for example has a max weight of 35kg and 125cm for height. So my lo can stay rear facing until he’s approx 6.5 yrs old and then use a high backed booster xx

With teathered seats you can get spare tethers and have a set in each car, we've got the axkid minikid 2.0 and then the cybex sirona which goes on the same base our cloud Z did, the axkid is honestly so easy to install once the tethers are in it takes about the same amount of time as the base and then seat onto the cybex and my 4 year old has a decent amount of leg space too, he's quite tall and has never once complained about his legs in it! If anything the few times he's had to sit forward facing in another car he's said he wants to sit the other way 😂 Also as the sides are lower on the axkid getting him in and out is just as easy as the other spin seat his brother uses! X

Britax Safeway m is what I have for my 98 percentile girlie, keeps her rear facing for longer which is the safest :)
