I wouldn’t use tap water, the same way we wouldn’t drink the tap water, I would use bottled. You will need to find one with a low sodium content though. I would then make the bottles up using a kettle and I used the rapid cool in Turkey. It worked really well! We’re also going to Egypt this year and in terms of food I am going to take purées and jars as I don’t want to risk my LO getting poorly from any food. As you said you do have to be careful with food in Egypt but I have been twice before baby and never been poorly but for a little one so young and new to foods, I wouldn’t risk it. Hope that helps. x
@Naomi thank you so much so just to clarify you would use bottled water and boil that in the kettle to make up the bottles? I am going to try and do some research to find low sodium bottled water in Egypt I just hope I can find it!
@Aimee thank you for your reply! Nice to hear you were okay with food as had quite a few people tell me they were a bit ill
Yes so I would boil the bottled water in the kettle (as long as there is one provided, you may want to check beforehand!) I also used bottled water for cleaning and sterilising when I was abroad (I might have gone overboard with worrying about the tap water but better to be safe than sorry😅)! Honestly, it’s not too difficult to find bottled water with low sodium, I would just research on forums beforehand so you have a bit of an idea. Some have pictures of babies on them in other countries and they say that they are suitable/safe for babies but we found these actually had more sodium than other water so avoided them completely when we went to Turkey.
We went to Egypt last year with a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old (ebf so can't help with formula) we stayed at the resort the whole time and had no issues with food at all
