Colic cries

I have a 5 week old who is so gassy at night that she’s crying and constantly kicking her legs, swinging her arms around and stiffening up. I tried mylicon drops and changed her formula twice. I stopped breastfeeding for now just to see if it was my milk causing it. I don’t know what else to do. My family is telling me to try chamomile tea but I’m afraid. I’m so tired and I don’t have help because my husband is back to work. Any advice? Please and thank you.

I’d recommend sticking with breastfeeding? It’ll get better I promise. Going on a dairy free diet, no spicy food either and baby magic tea. Lots of baths help too. My baby was colicky for a year it slowly got better and now she loves everything dairy lol it’s tough but it’ll get better I promise ❤️

Baby magic tea you can get on Amazon. It’s just fennel tea mixed with chamomile. The fennel helps regulate their tummy and the chamomile helps them sleep.

I know some parents aren’t fond of the idea but if you have a pediatric chiropractor in your area I highly recommend chiropractor care! my baby 2 months and I’ve been taking him since he was 2 weeks old and it’s been a godsend! When he starts getting colic symptoms I call our chiropractor and get him scheduled, right now I’m only having to take him monthly.

Chiropractor really helped my baby and cutting out diary!

Definitely don’t give your baby any kind of tea or water bc they are only 5 weeks old, look up water toxicity in babies they can’t process the extra water & can get very sick or even die from it. I don’t think they’re allowed to have water until 6 months & even then it’s very little like only an oz or 2 a day. They get all the water they need from breastmilk / formula. Also changing from breastmilk to formula or even changing brands of formula can upset babies tummy. I figured that out when I was using one brand that a friend had given me that was unused & then switched to a different one I thought was better. It takes time for them to get use to the ingredients in new formula so constantly switching can cause tummy problems. Also if my baby seems gassy I just tuck her knees up to her tummy & gently press them up & she usually toots a few times/poops & feels better. If tucking the knees in straight up doesn’t work you can try putting them to one side & then the other or doing circles

***I meant you drink fennel tea. It’ll pass through your breastmilk.

You can also try swaddling baby with their knees tucked up, might help with gas & helps soothe so they’re not flailing their arms & legs around & will sleep better & longer. My baby use to only sleep 2 hours at a time at night, I started swaddling her at night & now she will sleep for at least one 4-6 hour stretch & she is also about 5 weeks old

I have already tried the exercises, she drinks both formula and breastmilk. Unfortunately im not producing enough yet. This is so exhausting for both of us. She’s in obvious discomfort and I’m in tears not know how to help her.

gripe water and frida windi straws.! hold upright and bounce and squeeze a little
