Head scratching

My son is almost 6 months old and loves to do the little ‘scritchy scratch’ thing to the top of his head, anyone else have this happen?? He does it so much and so often that it scabs and sometimes even bleeds. No matter how often we cut his nails he still leaves marks on his head. Any tips?!? It’s almost like a self soothing thing but his poor head is scratched up like crazy😅😢

My baby did this for months and months, he eventually stopped I think around 8 months? Only tip is to keep his head as moisturised/oiled as possible so it doesn’t get itchy

My daughter does this as well but she has eczema so I thought that was why but she doesn't do it anywhere else on her body 😂 she tends to only do it when she's tired so I just keep socks on her hands and keep her head moisturised lol x

@Emily my son has eczema to and is the same way, he won’t itch anywhere but his head lol

My daughter used to do it! Not sure if it was self soothing or because her scalp was really dry. Poor would go to town and the have little scratches. Her head isn’t as dry anymore, she hasn’t scratched it like that in a while, just rubs it once in a while a little. She has some eczema patches on the back of her head too but she can’t reach that to scratch it.

My son has eczema pretty bad and does this so we keep him moisturized, nails clipped, and socks on his hands. We had to eventually get a prescription from his doctor though for special shampoo and hydrocortisone
