Heavy bleeding - 12 weeks pregnant

I had a really heavy bleed. It was just a sudden gush of blood that covered my clothes. Soaked through my underpants, leggings and dress. Went to a&e but they said it’s most likely normal as I have no abdominal pain. They said sometimes blood pools in your uterus and can come out in a gush or clots. I’ve never heard of that. I have my 3 month scan on Tuesday so they said I might just have to wait till then or they’ll call me on Monday but I can’t wait for that so I have a private scan booked in for tomorrow morning. The bleeding has stopped now. Has anyone else experienced this?

No I haven't but I know people can have bleeding during pregnancy. I hope everything is okay and the private scan is all good

I had bleeding but not a gush. They did tell me that sometimes it can just happen and there’s no explanation to it. Hope all goes well at your scan 🫶🏽 x

This happened in my most recent pregnancy. And it happened a few more times too. All was okay, perfectly healthy baby. But I was absolutely certain it meant I was going to lose the baby, and all they could say was it was a threatened miscarriage because they couldn’t see a reason for the bleeding- there were a couple of theories like a low lying placenta, a possible hematoma, but nothing confirmed.

@Naomi it’s worse not knowing what it is. Had my private scan today and thankfully baby is doing great 🙏🏼 x
