Having my baby at Cedars-Sinai - Anatomy scan questions?

My OB is at Cedars and I’m delivering there. I’d love to ask a few questions about the anatomy scan. My last visit with my OB was 16w and I’m not actually meeting with my regular OB at 20w and then meeting with them at 24w. I’m only meeting with the doctor at the MFM clinic for the anatomy scan so wanted to ask a few questions: - Do they check your BP in that visit as well? I had high BP in my 16w appt so need it checked so curious. - Do they walk you through what they see on the screen? It’s my first baby so have no idea what the process is. In a prior appt, there was a risk of IUGR so feeling a bit anxious this coming one and I’d want to know if they identify other issues the day of but don’t know how they do it. - It says I meet with a doctor but is that true? Or is that only in the case of any issues cropping up? - If an issue comes up, will they guide me to book an OB appt or follow up differently? If my appt schedule changes for example, will I be told in that appt itself? Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi there! I had my first at Cedars last October, and had 3 anatomy scans total. -Yes, they check your BP -Yes, the technician would say outloud everything she was seeing/measuring -Yes, the doctor comes in after the technician finishes and gives them the report. Feel free to prepare a list of questions in advance, the doctor will be more than happy to answer them -I didn’t have any issues come up but the doctor decided to do another anatomy scan (a month later I think) and she gave me a little paper to take to the front desk to schedule it. I’d say prepare your questions and don’t hesitate to ask questions or for clarification of anything that comes up, they are all very friendly and open to answering and putting your mind at ease :)

@Judith thank you so much! This really put my mind at ease so appreciate it! Did you like your experience at Cedars? How was the labor and delivery experience?

I went to Cedar Sinai as well just for the scan and it was also with MFM. The person that did the scan was the actual doctor, not the technician. He was quiet throughout the scan but toward the end he let me know everything looked good and told me the weight of the baby and the percentile.

I honestly cannot complain. L&D went smooth, and there were many babies being born that day lol. After being admitted I had to wait a bit to get my room. Also I came in at 8am and got admitted with 3 cm dilation, and they said they’d check back around 3pm but my contractions got stronger and closer together and I had to insist to get seen sooner around 1PM, they thought I was exaggerating lol but baby was coming! I was already 9.5cm dilated and the doctor had to rush haha, baby was born soon after. Just make sure you speak up about any concern you have. Good luck!
