I would go closer to home! My husband and I both work an hours drive from home, yet our daughter’s nursery is round the corner from our house. It just means I drop her off and then go into work. It also means that family members can collect her from nursery and walk to our house with her without having to have car seats etc. Also, our daughter is always shattered after a day at nursery and would 100% fall asleep in the car on the way home if it was a long drive, which would then really affect her bedtime and her routine as it’d be danger naps all round!
We went for close to home, means I don’t have to do the commute with our little one, and gives some flexibility for my husband to do some pick ups (he can’t do drop offs as he starts too early). But it does make the turnaround of the work day a bit tighter but I think overall was the right choice.
I think it depends on what your plans are, are you sharing the drop off pick ups? We chose one 10 mins from home (half hour from my work) because I do drop off my partner does pick ups but he could be working anywhere from 10 mins down the road to 4 hours away. But it’s close enough to my work if I have to go get her if she’s unwell x
Ours is 10 mins from home and my husband's job and about a 40 minute drive from my work. I drop off, my husband picks up. If we have a day off together and he still goes to nursery its handy and also if im WFH.
Closer to home
Closer to home absolutely.
We are in a similar situation (currently on waitlists for both and will accept any as it’s super competitive here) but if I had the choice - I would say the one 10 minutes from home, personally. As the one by your workplace, you’d be the primary pick up/drop off person. Which could be fine but what if you’re sick from work or have a day off for medical appointments, etc? Would you keep your LO home or still drive 35 minutes there and back to drop your kiddo off? At least the 10 minute one from your place gives you the choice between him or you, and whenever you might have a day off or morning off etc, he can take your child or you wouldn’t have to go far.
