Just came to say you’re not alone this was exactly how I felt and sometimes still do and he’s 2 now 🫠
17mo and still chaos for us 😅
My daughter is 17 months and it varies- some meals are great, others it’s a disaster 😅 but I do remember that when she was 13-14 months there was a lot of food/plate throwing. Now she will give me her plate when she doesn’t want any more. She also eats more at nursery and will eat foods there that she won’t touch at home. I try to stick to consistent meal times, at the kitchen table. But I think that you’re going through is quite normal (even though it can be annoying!)
Maybe he would prefer to sit at a kiddie table rather than the high chair? Are his plates silicon or plastic? Cause those can kinda hold onto the food smells and that could be a turn off for him. Also not sure if it's a sensory thing since you've mentioned that he eats well at nursery. Though honestly I wouldn't really take eating well at nursery vs not well at home as a sign that you're doing something wrong. Most kids eat well at nursery because they all wanna imitate each other. My son straight up told me when I was roasting some veggies for dinner: "I love broccoli, it smells so good! But I only eat it at nursery" 😂 I'd say just keep trying, if you can have mealtimes around the table and everyone present in the house sit together, not put too much food in front of him, not force or pressure him to eat, and just make it a fun experience even if he doesn't eat. Offer his safe foods (ex. Babybel) along with new ones. Kids may need to taste the same food over 24 times to decide if they like it or not
