Vitamin D drops

Hi all, my little girl has been on cows milk a month, no health visitor told me about the VitD drops to add to their milk, it was a friend that told me. I’ve only just got hold of some as I’ve literally not had this information long. Will it be ok that it’s been a month and I’ve not used them??

The NHS recommendation for this age is to supplement Vit A,C as well as D. So you’re better off finding a multivitamin supplement that does (at least) all of those, rather than just Vit D drops for milk.

Your nearest family health centre should give them to you for free just go in and ask

It doesn't matter if you haven't bothered so far, they recommend drops of A,C and D until the age of 5. This can be changed to the gummy version when they are less likely to choke. Some families qualify for these free from the healthy start programme if not most supermarkets sell a version

I’ve not been told this! I’ve never given them any supplements!

@Chloe thank you! I’m usually always on the NHS website and googling so I feel bad for not knowing this or googling this time 😭

@Alanna thank you! Not sure we qualify for free ones but will check x

Breast fed babies should have Vitamin D supplements- formula fed babies are ok but multivitamin is suggested from 6 months to 5 years. I found it hard to find a multivitamin which didn’t have sugar in it or a stupid dropper system trying to get baby to have drops on a spoon or directly in mouth but found a good one that I add to her morning breakfast. It’s called natures aid and I get it from Amazon but best to do some research to see which would be best for your child ☺️ but this works for us https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MABC29Y/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00MABC29Y&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_ssd_img&qid=1737625483&pd_rd_w=pMQlE&content-id=amzn1.sym.632045c6-bd11-46a2-8a95-3c8490cff666%3Aamzn1.sym.632045c6-bd11-46a2-8a95-3c8490cff666&pf_rd_p=632045c6-bd11-46a2-8a95-3c8490cff666&pf_rd_r=J71S2YKG5CS9BXK6BSZ8&pd_rd_wg=SObsH&pd_rd_r=197bf50c-75ba-4075-ab6e-eb14b0aad04f&pd_rd_plhdr=t

*I only found out about the switching to a multivitamin instead of just vitamin d (EBF) when she was 9/10 months so don’t be too hard on yourself the information isn’t given out verbally which is annoying - I only know because I happened to be on the gov website regarding solids xx

@Emma thanks for this. I never thought to add to breakfast! X
