Thank you for the tips! I feared that may be the case 😂 we love travelling too & were planning to slow it down for baby but as you say, travel wise it’s a bit long winded. We planned to fly into Mexico and spend 5 days there than travel over for Guat/ Belize then back to Mexico for last part to break it up a bit but as you say, will have to see what baby is like when she arrives ☺️. My main concern is safety and cleanliness as don’t want her to get sick etc
We hadn’t planned to hire a car but could be an option! Just trying to get an idea on feasibility atm x
I did the same on a 4 week trip. Flew to cancun then travelled across to belize then onto Guatemala. I spent a week in each location (nicaragua and costa rica too) and even that felt rushed. The amount of crap you have to take with a baby I think you will feel reluctant to keep travelling on and will want to set up camp somewhere. There was a shooting in the car in front of my bus in Guatemala so I would be worried about safety too.
I have been to both in my pre baby life. In belize I stayed in caye caulker. Great for snorkelling / diving trips and would recommend the island but not great as a base for the mainland. In Guatemala I stayed at flores and lake atilan. Lake atilan was beautiful. I hate to be a party pooper but these don't feel the easiest places to travel to with a baby. There are no direct flights to either. Do you plan to hire a car so you can have a baby seat? I used to be a traveller pre baby and couldn't wait to take him island hopping round thailand but unfortunately its just not practical as he's not a very laid back baby. I think it's probably worth not committing any money to it until baby is here and you can see what kind of character they have.
