Baby sitting

So the sign to start solids is baby sitting, but what does this actually mean? He’s almost 6 months and does not want to sit on his own, always flops/throws himself backwards. I feel lost

Can he sit with a little bit of support? Or sit in a high chair and keep himself upright without slouching etc?

He doesn’t need to be sitting completely unaided. If he can sit upright in a high chair without leaning back or slouching then he’s fine

@Evie yeah he can with a little support but in the high chair he slouches x

If he’s slouching in the high chair then he won’t be ready to start weaning, there’s a risk of him choking. I’d give it a couple of weeks and see how he is. There’s absolutely no rush to start weaning, just make sure he is ready. My daughter just turned 5 months and can sit unsupported. We practice sitting up with her for short periods of time in the day. Do you have a large ish toy that you can place in front of him for him to lean on while he sits? We use the little piano that’s attached to her playmat. This can help strengthen his core, also lots of tummy time! Don’t stress though, babies get there in their own time and it might just take him a little longer. It’s totally okay, and just give it a bit of time x
