Birthday party

Advice needed please We have just welcomed our little girl so want to make my son’s birthday special when he turns 3 in March. He’s now super aware of birthdays so want him to enjoy it but money is a little tight atm, any ideas on how we can celebrate with loved ones? Options are to either do something with extended family or with friends / family friends. Our home is too small to have lots of people around. Softplay for his friends is around £300-£350 just for the softplay hire. Having family would mean in a restaurant or hall which again would be quite expensive. The park is obviously weather dependent and in March not great to plan. Grateful for any ideas as I want to do something more than just cutting a cake at home just the 4 of us. TIA

For family you could book a large table in a family friendly pub or restaurant and get some balloons from card factory which work out cheap then a cake and some candles. We will be doing this for my son on his birthday. That way everyone has the choice whether they come and join and pay their own way for food. Do you have a local hungry horse? They are great value for money. Have you looked at local play cafes and opening times depending on the day if they can offer group bookings you can just choose a select few of your LO friends and pay for their entry instead of hiring out exclusively, which I’m with you is way expensive and what I’ve ended up doing as I don’t have the space at home and well because he asked for one where he went to so many last year 🥲

I have booked my local leisure centre which includes a bouncy castle and toys in the hall for 1 hour and a room afterwards for food and cake cutting I will be getting a supermarket cake and decorations and doing all the food myself the total at the venue before food and Dec's is only £115 and that is for 20 children

We have a pub local that has a little soft play area inside. Like it’s in a separate area with a couple of tables. We went for dinner there with extended family. Then family had the choice of sitting at the main table and chatting or going into the soft play area to watch/play the children. Could be cheaper alternative. Obvs everyone just pays for themselves x

Do any local leisure centres have softplay rather than large independent ones? We have booked this and it's £80, £20 for a party room after and going to our own food and cake. Our local Dobbies has a softplay, not sure on cost to hire, but could be an idea for a small get together without booking separately, nice food/coffees and kids are entertained.

If you say where you live, maybe people can give you more specific ideas.

What about a museum and some lunch or a soft play centre with a cafe attached?
