Glucose test failed first one

Has anyone had experience with failing the one hour glucose test, but passing the 3 hour? If so any tips? I took my one hour test at 3:15 in the afternoon and will be taking the 3 hour at 8am on Tuesday so hoping that helps some. My doctors instructions are to get 150g of carbs for 3 days prior. I’m typically a pretty low carb person so that might have been why I failed the first time. I was at 138. I’m a little confused because their list of recommended foods is all junk like pizza and ice cream, foods I typically avoid. Any thoughts?

I accidentally carb loaded the night before I had forgotten about my test the next day and failed by 4 point someone told me to eat early the night before and do grilled chicken with bell peppers that’s what I’m going to try

The same thing happened to me and I was told to fast for 12 hrs before the test (mine was at 7am) so I ate my last meal at 7pm the night before and the morning of the test just had water. I would just up the protein for a few days before the test and reduce the sugar intake.

Yes! I was also 138 and cut off was 135 I just took the 3 hour one yesterday it was rough but I made it through without passing out or throwing up I think I failed because it was close to the holidays and I wasn’t thinking before I took the first test I too don’t eat any junk foods I think it’s normal to fail the first one but I don’t know everyone’s different my friend passed the hour test but I failed

I was told I wasn’t having my labs done that day, ate a crumbl cookie a few hours before my appointment, failed my one hour glucose. Tested my 3 hour glucose a few days later and passed with flying colors😅

First pregnancy I failed the 1hr and the 3hr so I then had gestational diabetes. Second pregnancy I barely failed the 1hr then passed the 3hr and didn’t have gestational diabetes. I’m heathy, active, I’m not over weight. It has to do with how the placenta formed don’t be so hard on yourself. But this also shows that you can fail the 1hr and pass the 3hr. All my 4 blood draws for the 3hr were in range. You got this!

@Emily good to know we can blame the guy for this too 🤣

What I can say is don’t try and cheat for the test for the sake of your baby. Do what the instructions say. there’s a lot of misconception around gestational diabetes thinking that it comes from diet. and while overweight people with poor diets tend to have it that is not the reason it happens. It’s from how the placenta is formed and you have to remember that your husband is 50% of the baby you’re just carrying it. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

With my third daughter, I failed the first test, but passed the second one.

I past a one hr not fasting but failed the one hr fasting and now the docs want me to use a monitor to check my sugars four times a day- fasting wake up and after each meal....Fasting they want me 90 and below and after meals 140 and below
