Transportation with babies

So I've never used public transportation, always was close and would ask family for a lift if they could. But with 2 babies now I can't. Plus we moved (partner and i) to another state so obviously can't do that anymore. I've always had a deep fear of driving and the thought of driving with those 2 makes it worse. So I've been wondering for public transportation like the bus, obviously they don't have car seats but should/could I leave them in the stroller? Also again with 2 it's a double stroller. Or am I supposed to shuffle with them trying to sit them both in my lap? Also with like uber/lyft/taxis, do they have or require a seat or am I supposed to put in ours and awkwardly drag it around doing my errands? I hate doing public transportation too because I also have a fear or tight places with strangers, bad past experience, but staying in our apartment is making us depressed.

Uber or Lyft you need car seats

Car seats are typically the law but Uber/lyft won't provide them. I've seen ppl have their kids in strollers on the bus but that might be at the drivers discretion idk if there's an actual rule there

I never had a problem taking the kids on the busses, subways, or streetcars. If you have a double stroller that's fine as long as the seats are one in front of the other and not side by side as that would block the entire way for more people to get in. Most busses(at last in Canada) will have the front section either with no seats or where the seats can be pulled up and you can park your stroller out of the way of the aisle completely.

If they’re small babies just make sure they’re rear facing in their stroller on the bus. Where I live there’s space for strollers / wheelchairs at the front. If the bus is full, wait for another. Again where I am (England) you don’t legally need a car seat in the back of a taxi or uber . So long as your child can sit in a seat by themselves with a regular seatbelt. If you have a newborn baby, you’d have to take the seat. Maybe a travel system so you can put the seat on the stroller and use it after. Sorry if the advice isn’t of use. Depends how old your kids are I guess!

Also. Legal doesn’t equal safe.

Thanks for the tips. I have a stroller that is one infront of the other. We live in the states (Florida). And my boys are 7 months and a year old. Asked my partner and he doesn't know either.
