Newborn white discharge, am I cleaning her properly ?

I feel so bad that I may not have been wiping my little girl properly but I’ve just noticed as I’m cleaning her poo that got everywhere that in her private parts it is full of white stuff but deep in the creases. Is this normal at 3 weeks old?? or am I to blame? It’s never happened with my other girl but maybe this time I’m doing it wrong.

is it like little dots? its normal in my family and i still get them sometimes. we just have slightly higher maintenance coochies. just make sure to wipe in the folds and check for it when ur wiping for pee

It’s probably still the vernix that they are born with. Is it a bit difficult to wipe off? My girls clung to her skin for a good few weeks even after baths. All gone now though

Itd be highly unlikely an infant that young, newborn at that, would have a UTI or Fungal infection. Did you smell it? Does it smell weird?

I'd lean more towards normal vern from womb if it doesn't smell funky & isn't chunky like milk curd

I think it’s vernix, my LO had it in her creases too. I left it there for a while because I heard it’s good for their skin. I used a Q-tip to clean it out when I did.

Baby girls can have discharge

Thank you so much everyone. Yes it is difficult to wipe off, and it does not smell so I think it is what you ladies have said ‘vernix’ I’ve never heard of this so I will have a read on it. Thanks again x

My baby had it for months, it was so hard to get it off 🤣

You’re welcome 🙂 yeah it’s the stuff the baby is born with all over their body to protect their skin. So it’s good stuff.
