Poorly baby

My baby is poorly with sickness and diarrhoea he’s 16 months, what have people been doing about work when this happens? I’m a civil servant and will obviously need to be with him tomorrow. I’m just curious how your workplaces have been when you’ve had a poorly child. I also don’t understand why having a child isn’t classed as a caring responsibility 💔

Prison service? They dont care :(

I have had to have the days off as either sick leave or annual leave. The only time there were annoying about it was when I was meant to be in a meeting but my other half doesn't get paid if he takes a day off and nursery wouldn't take my son so what did they expect me to do? I rolled my eyes a lot during the phone call and they had to let me have it off and call in the meeting from home. Flexible work looks good on forms but I don't know many employers who actually embrace it properly.

My workplace don’t mind me taking time off when my baby is sick as long as his dad is also having time off sometimes so it’s not always me doing it. We don’t get paid if our kids are sick, sometimes I think people lie and say they are sick when it’s their child so that they can get paid tbh and I don’t blame them

Emergency annual leave x

If you are able to wfh can you make up the hours during nap times and when he’s in bed? Not ideal but a way around it I guess. Any family members able to help out?
