@Hatti thank you I'll check that out now!
@Hatti I second this! I haven't been in 30 years but much preferred it to Disneyland Paris. My brother has taken his family in recent years several times and they love the charm of the place.
I’ve heard Europa park is also better than Disney land by someone who has been there and to a lot of other big parks.
What about getting the Euro star to euro Disney. You can then stay in an Airbnb (we got a 2 bed apartment 10min walk from the entrance) it was about 1% the cost of staying in the Disney hotel and was amazing. You can still stay in the park all day and evening.
@Naomi what's the Eurostar?
The train from London KX to Paris
I totally agree with @Scarlett ! Europa Park is one of my favourite places. We lived in Germany when I was a kid and went once a year. It's not that expensive and we definitely enjoyed it more than Disneyland. There were so many more rides for small children. Being on the shorter side, at the age of 9 I was so disappointed with Disneyland since I was not allowed on most rides...
We first did Disney as the sun did a deal where the park ticket was something stupid. We went by ferry, paid I think £40 in tolls and stayed in the French version of a travelodge. Last time we stayed at Davy Crockett and booked direct with Disney.
@Naomi oh where you drive? That's a no for me 😅 bad car accident, I don't drive far now 😬 lol
Which Disney are you wanted to go to? You can get the Eurostar from London at reasonable prices if bought in advance (and better than flying imo!). A lot of it. Is just planning in advance and paying in installments. Euro camps are meant to be a lot of fun though! Lots of options and still plenty of time to take the kids :)
My cousin took her 2 kids ages 5 and 11 and husband to Disneyland in the US last year, she paid 14 grand in total for a 10 day stay. She has a good job and was able to save for it. Most other people I know I imagine would take a loan out or save. People have different lives and priorities so whilst 14 grand may seem crazy to you, it’s no big deal to higher earners. Also the problem you find is the more kids you have, the cost of everything triples or quadruples. The cost of an adult U.K. passport is £88.50 per person and children £57.50 each. Adult passports are valid for 10 years, children’s are 5. You would also need to factor in travel insurance which for a family of 5 will be £££. Even Disneyland Paris is crazy expensive unless you go in off peak freezing season and even then, will still set you back a pretty penny.
I took my cousin a few years ago and the best money saving tip I can give you is to not stay AT disney, stay at a non-disney hotel and use their shuttle service. That will save you loads and you only need a base to sleep!
Eurotunnel is the one you drive Dover to Callais. Eurostar is a train. Goes from London St Pancreas to Paris Gare Du Nord. X
I’m an independent travel agent and know lots of tips for keeping costs down. I’m also the biggest Disney fan and so finding ways to go to Disney on a budget is kind of my thing! Honestly there are so many ways to be able to do it if you are really keen. Equally lots of other really fantastic suggestions above of other parks to try first for a fraction of the cost. Holidays are not cheap especially when you are going in peak times but it can be possible if you are savvy. Don’t lose hope (and message me if you’d like!)
There is a place called Efterling in Holland which is equally as magical and half the price. You can stay there or stay close by in a centre Paris style place and can get the ferry over or fly
