Grocery shopping!

Hi all! How are we managing to do a big food shop whilst solo parenting with our LOs? 😂 My LG is almost 7 weeks old, and I desperately need to do a food shop tomorrow but my partner is away at work all day so I'll have to take her to the store with me, but how are we managing it pls? 😂 can I just put her in her car seat and then just have the car seat in the main trolley bit or? I know it seems like such a trivial thing but it's throwing me 😂 Thanks x

Yes you can x

I’m a single mum so yep that’s what I do!

i literally just did a big food run a few days ago… you definitely can use the main one but be warned the spacing definitely can be little limited you can also wrap her in a wrap or put her in a carrier if that’s easier

Yeah. Or baby wear xxx

Baby wear.

Honestly I signed up for Instacart premium... I have only been to a grocery store like 3x in the last 6 months since my LO was born 🫣 He's almost sitting up on his own now, once I feel like he can sit in the cart I'll have to start going in person again.

Some shops have infant seats on the trolley that lie back so you don't have the car seat in the trolley I found that much easier. I think it was lidl I used them in

I get home delivery from a supermarket

Wanting to take your 7 week old out, good for you, you’re doing better than me. My LG is 14 weeks old this week and I haven’t gone out on my own with her yet. Other then doctors apt for her I haven’t done anything solo with her, and I feel it’s more my own mental issues, it just has me asking all sorts of questions I don’t know how to answer. Like once home how do I get her and the groceries into my apt on the second floor with no elevator and parking lot is Nextdoor to where I live? It seems so trivial to worry about such small things but I do. So I truly curious to know how you make out maybe it’ll motivate me to try an outing with my LG. Good luck!!!

@Erin try and baby carrier?

@Erin that sounds pretty difficult to be fair! I’m not in an apartment but I usually take her in first because I feel like she’s safer in the house and then leave her in the car seat while I bring the shopping in. Then to put it away I used to put her in her bouncer or on the floor but she’s a bit older now so has to see me so I put her in the high chair. A baby carrier might be a good idea for you though ☺️

We switched to getting our groceries delivered when our baby was born and it’s so much easier. I get to plan out all our meals and do the food order while he naps and we only ever go to the shops for a little top up or a snack occasionally

@Erin ah bless you, that must be tricky! Like the others have said, it might be worth investing in a baby carrier or something for getting out with baby on your own! I did manage to go grocery shopping with my LO in the end with her in the car seat, and I live in an apartment block too so what I did was take my LO inside my apartment and leave her in her car seat, and then went back for the groceries ☺️ Hope you manage to get out with your bubba soon!
