The GP will probably prescribe chloramphenicol ointment. It can clear up really quickly with this!
We've had the same this weekend and waiting for gp to open at 8, we went to 2 pharmacies over the weekend and neither could do anything and said to see gp
It's just drops they just can't prescribe at that age in a pharmacy
Ask for drops rather than ointment if you can, they’re easier to get into a wriggling baby x
My little one had this, because it was the weekend when I noticed she had it. I took her to A&E. In 2 hours, they told me that she had it and we got given eye ointment. They don't do eye drops anymore, and in two days it was gone x
All sorted thank you. Went to the GP this morning and prescribed an ointment. They don’t give drops for under 2 apparently. It’s already cleared up a lot today and also still wiping several times. Also rang nursery (he goes T W T) and as long as he’s had at least two applications - which he has as it’s 4 per day plus tomorrow will be 5 before drop off - then he is still good to go. Posting an update just in case this helps anyone xxx
I went to the gp today for the same issue and got eye drops? Glad you got sorted though x
@Lauren tbh not surprised. Always different advice depending on where you are and who you see. However the ointment has worked wonders today so just going to roll with it x
We had same issue and gp said pharmacy can deal with it. 😊 also what they said just clean it often 🤷♀️
