Work

How soon did you let your workplace know of pregnancy? I work in a mental health ward in a hospital and due to the type of patients we have In just now I had to inform my charge nurse in case there were any physical incidents. I'm only 4/5 weeks but feel it's just not worth the risk 😭

You dont have to until around 25 weeks legally, but I would definitely mention it as they will probably want to do a risk assessment xx

I think it definitely depends on the type of work and whether a risk assessment is needed, I work in an office at a desk so had no rush but told my manager at 14 weeks x

With my first I worked in a nursery with additional needs children who could be very physical - I told my manager at 7 weeks. A risk assessment was done and plans put in place. I debated telling them as it was so early but in the long run it was worth it.

I work at a special needs school and told my line manager right away but that I only wanted the info shared on a need to know basis. I had a risk assessment put in place. I think you have done the right thing 100% by telling them!

I told my boss at about 6 weeks I think, but mainly because of how sick I was feeling x

Thanks girls!

I told my manager at 7.5 weeks as I needed time off for the midwife appointment

I was a teacher when I was pregnant the first time and I waited the 12 weeks. I’m pregnant with my second now but work in social work now and told them straight away due to the higher risk and what you’re exposed to x

With my first I waited until 12 weeks, with my second I told them at 7 weeks because I knew I’d need time off for the booking appointment and they would probably have been shitty about it if they didn’t think it was pregnancy related
