Hm, my baby got started late on food period because my bf wanted to wait until he was a year to feed him anything other than breastmilk— absolutely not. So now he does purées, along with bites of whatever we’re having, and he still loves his breastmilk more than anything else. He’s 27 lbs and is doing just fine, as of his 9 month apt. last Wednesday. Don’t feel bad. As long as you’re feeding your baby and she’s happy and healthy, I’m sure it’s fine. You’re doing your best, mom! ♥️
I didn’t do baby led weaning either and my baby is also 9 months and has only just started to be able to eat some other things. I started by making the purees less smooth each time so slightly lumpy then really lumpy then a little more lumpy. If she’s good with melty sticks that’s really good. I did toast with mine for the first time last week and it actually went better than I thought and now I’ve done it a few times, but pancakes the week before she gagged and vomited everywhere. Have you tried porridge or mashed potato? You’re being way too hard on yourself you’ve done nothing wrong and haven’t failed in the slightest. Weaning is TERRIFYING. It’ll all just click in to place one day and you’ll wonder what you were worried about x
Also, what’s blw and hv’s?
Mama that’s completely okay, your baby will learn in her own time. My baby boy is almost 11 months and I still give him purée sometimes. I found that things like stars pasta which are made for soup (super soft and small) and rice was a great way to help him transition on to solids I never did BWL because he wasn’t eating properly. You are doing you’re best and that is amazing
I still give my little boy purees and hes 9 months you are not a failure at all a fed baby is a happy baby no matter what food she has xx feel free to message if you want too xx
@Vanessa blw is baby lead weaning hv is health visitor
Oh i felt this 🤍 my son is 2.5 and it took til he was about 2 for him to explore different textures, BLW was a nightmare and i felt like a failure but i promise you it gets better and easier. I found once i took the pressure of us both and made sure he was happy and fed he just explored off our plates and sometimes i would put a bit of what we were eating on his tray and then have his safe foods too, you are amazing! I promise you it gets easier 🤍
@Amelia 🤦🏾♀️ Thank you!
@Abi such kind words thank you so much🥲. She loves porridge and I always try to make it quite stodgy and she loves it and takes to it really well !🥰
Don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s okay. Not every baby is eating regular food or even handling lumpy food. They get all their nutrition from milk be it breast or formula. They are all different. Will she put food in her mouth? As sometimes just letting them explore the food can help. It’s all about exploring and less about how much they eat!
That’s amazing then!! Honestly you’re doing great. Maybe try weetabix next? i just started this with mine with some milk, Greek yogurt and some crushed raspberries x
You’re not a failure momma! My girl is 9 months and we have only done purées as well. You will both get there when you are ready! Every baby is different and there’s nothing wrong with that. Talk to her pediatrician if it will make you feel better though.
