I found as i dropped bottles my lb ate his food so much better and is hungry for it. They can get a-lot of the vitamins/minerals in the formula from the food we give them. We are down to 2 bottles now and almost fully transitioned to cows milk, i do find he is hungrier now for his food with having less formula! Again i think its something thats recommended to do at 1 but like everything else i would do it when your ready to x
After 1 year babies tend to drop bottles limiting to 2 bottles so usually means morning and bedtime as they don’t need much milk as they grow and have more food intake as that’s has more nutrients to help them grow. plus too much milk can rot the teeth a little bit especially during the night which has been recommended to try offer water if little one is thirsty during the night and bottles should be stopped by 2 years as can affect the teeth. There’s nothing wrong continuing with follow on milk but would have to get stage 3 as toddler milk but there’s not much evidence it’s a good source as mainly it’s a sales thing but ideally normal milk is fine and adding other calcium type of food
Ok thanks guys for the comments… we stayed on baby first milk rather than follow on as I was told it was a marketing ploy… so is this a bad thing g he’s still having 20oz through the day? I really want to drop a bottle as think it’s a catch 22, less bottles and he may drink more water (to help his constipation) but dropping a bottle of he’s rubbish with his cup will be a lot less fluid intake in the day I’m usually not e to stick to the rules and recommendations, but with babies it’s all about transitioning when the time is right and I’m always scared to change what’s been working for so long 🤦♀️
Our little boy was similar about 2 months ago. I just took out his afternoon bottle one day and he wasn't even phased by it. Also noticed he was eating more after this. Now he has morning and night bottle and sometimes a bottle after lunch/half a bottle Still on formular as he's CMPA and we just haven't changed to soya yet but about to
I was told that after 1 too much milk can lead to poor iron absorption and anaemia so it should be limited to around 16oz maximum. We are doing half and half at the moment still but down to 2 bottles from 3 in the last 2 weeks. Its recommended to give them a multivitamin at this age anyway
