How to get rid of cold symptoms while pregnant

I have my c-section scheduled for Thursday and I have been trying to get rid of this cough for over a week now. I don’t necessarily feel sick but I have so much phlegm in my throat. Do you think they will separate me from the baby immediately after birth ? I don’t want to get my baby sick at all, I just don’t know what else to do. I’ve been doing tea, with honey and lemon. Gargling salt water, steam showers. Literally I have tried everything 😞I hate winter time.

Instead of steam showers, can you inhale steam for 5-10 mins and like 3/4 times a day? That will loosen your phlegm. For cough, you can mix a small amount of ground black pepper with honey and lick the mixture slowly using a spoon. You can take this 2/3 times in a day. You can also add ginger juice in this. Sorry these are very traditional methods that I have tried and tested during my pregnancy.

@Divya I have definitely been trying to inhale steam. I find that to be helpful in the moment. I haven’t tried the honey with pepper yet, I’m placing my target order right now lol thanks so much for those tips!

Yeah inhaling steam will be really effective, just do it religiously for next 2 days and don’t stop your salt water gargle. Hope you feel better soon ❤️ Good luck with your Csection 🤗

Also opt for organic honey 😊

I had a cough/ cold going into my c section! They didn’t separate us at all, in fact they weren’t very concerned and baby never caught anything from me! Said feeding her was the best thing I could do :)

@Tamar wow I am glad you had a good experience. A good friend of mine was separated from her baby after birth because of her symptoms. So you’re giving me some reassurance❤️ did the doctors want to test you for any viruses ?
