Driving

So I’ve been passed a few months and I have the worst driving anxiety. I learned it drive in a Mercedes A class and it was diesel had reverse cameras, hill assist and an electric handbreak. I then went to my car which is a petrol golf doesn’t have any of the things the car I learnt in did and it’s just so different to drive I have to use revs to set off I absolutely avoid hills to the point I will go the long way round because I stall and I think people been behind me makes it worse I just massively overthink which probably doesn’t do me any favours. Don’t get me wrong I don’t stall everytime especially if there is nobody behind me but the anxiety I get when I come to a hill even an incline is absolutely awful. I never had any issues in my instructors car also parking Since passing I’ve only forward bay parked I won’t even attempt to do any of the others because I’ve learnt with a camera I don’t know what To without one it just makes going anywhere so stressful and sometimes avoid going places because of it. It just really gets me down because I put so much effort into learning to drive so I could take the kids out more and im finding im not driving places because of the anxiety. Does anyone else relate or have any tips to overcome I feel like I should have learnt without the cameras and hill assist so I actually learnt properly but I didn’t realise at the time it was going to be so different in my own car. Sorry for the rant

Could you go to a car park when it's quiet and practice? Is there anyone who is willing to come with you and help out? Practice is key 😊

Try not to let other drivers put you off, we were all learners and newly passed at one point 💕 see if you can get a bit of practice in car parks or during quiet road times. The more you do it the more you will get used to it. You may be able to book a few lessons with another instructor (different car) or there’s pass plus courses I believe. Remember you have just as much right to be on the road as everyone else so try not to worry. Everyone avoids certain parking spaces when they first pass (like parallel parking🤣)! It wasn’t even a requirement to learn how to reverse bay park when I did my test 😂😭😭 so that took me a while to get my head around. good luck, you are probably not the only one that feels like this with the difference of the cars these days. Try not to avoid It too much or you will make it feel bigger 💕
