Insomnia and work

How is everyone coping? I'm 31 weeks and sleeping terribly, getting about 5 hours of broken sleep each night. I'm still working full time (and pretty much full time in the office). I've just negotiated 1 day a week from home, and that felt like I was asking a lot. I've only been at my company since October and still need to pass probation, so I'm trying to find a balance. I just can't sleep and feel so miserable 😭

I find the sausage shaped pregnancy pillow, magnesium tablets and a sleep mask reeeeally help me with getting back over quickly after needing to pee for the 10th time! Currently 32 weeks so I understand the struggle 😴

Hi I’m in the same boat but I just passed my probation last October and now I go on maternity in Feb. Honestly it’s okay to ask for help from your work, you’re pregnant they have to understand that you’re growing a child inside you and that child is taking a lot of your time and energy. They can’t fail your probation due to pregnancy as that is against the law especially because you were pregnant when you started with the company. As for sleep, try sleeping with either a pillow between your legs or if you have one tuck a part of your pregnancy pillow between your legs and prop pillows behind your back for extra support. Try not to eat or drink an hour or two before you go to bed as sometimes that’s what keeps you up and try and stay off electronics before you go to sleep as it takes an hour to properly fall asleep. These are what have worked for me personally so hopefully they’ll work for you too x

Thank you both for your suggestions! Actually, having a pillow between my knees seems to be making my hip pain worse 🥲 I have a pregnancy pillow and I've tried both the big one and the small wedge one with a separate pillow between legs, also been taking magnesium every day for a few months. I've tried baths with Epsom salts, not eating late or heavy meals, nothing seems to work. Don't know if it's just stress x

My hip pain has been awful but I’ve tried a new topper last night and it was soo much better! Not sure if that would help x

Insight Timer app is great for sleep meditations if you want to try falling asleep earlier to make up the time - my hip pain is also awful but I’ve been getting into bed earlier and it’s helping me bank a few more hours 🤞going to order a mattress topper too!

I also have a mattress topper 😅 but I'll try insight timer to see if that helps!

Same here get 2-3 hours max and still work full time (12 hours shifts). I don’t even know what keeps me up because I am knackered and feel quite comfortable. So can’t even work out what to do 🙈

Same! I have the hip pain but I can't believe its just that keeping me awake. Didn't help my girl decided she was going to have a party at 5.30 this morning so I couldn't get back to sleep 😂
