Scans

Asking because of what was said at my 20 week scan today and it’s just made me think now. Do we not get any other scans now?🤔

The way the woman said it to me was almost like unless something is wrong, baby is too small for example, then there won’t be any others. Is this right?

Yes that’s right x

Yep unfortunately, unless it’s needed you only get 2 free scans on the NHS, which is why alot of people get private scans after the 20 weeks one xx

Unfortunately true

Yes that’s correct. I’ve got another one scheduled for 32 weeks because my cords missing an artery so they need to check babies growth but otherwise that’d be it. Mad really. From this point they estimate growth from measuring belly which is not particularly accurate x

Yes that's correct. I have a 32/36/40 week ones to check for growth as I have a risk of FGR.

That’s crazy to me! I would have thought you would have got at least one more between now and when baby is due!🤯

Avatar

Yes that’s correct but you will have more regular midwife appointment from 28 weeks and they will check babies heartbeat and measure bump growth every time. Any concerns and they’ll book you in for another. X

I thimk it depends what borough you are in because the borough I’m in we get our 12, 20 and 36 week scans so we get the 3 and any others if high risk as well.

Avatar

Yep, unless they find a problem. If your belly measurements don’t track the growth chart they will also send you in for a growth scan. (Or, sometimes, if they think baby is breach when they should have turned). But otherwise 20 weeks is it.

Unless theirs a history of small babies too, so I've got my 20 week scan next week, but been told I will be having another at 32 and 35 because I have high risk pregnancy, risk of pre clampsia and history of small babies both my babies were small, and they think this one could be small will know more at my 20 week scan ! I have family history of these things too so that's why but with my last 2 children I had only 2 scans each ! X

You only get additional scans if under clinician care due to having a high-risk pregnancy or, in some cases, it's because of your previous pregnancy. You may need to go private if you want any more scans. If you're worried or anything about movements, etc. speak to the midwife, and they can do a scan at the hospital.

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Rolling milestone at 5 months - What’s typical ?

Good morning ladies,

My daughter will be 5 months old tomorrow, but there’s still no sign of her rolling. She does tummy time and loves lying on her mat, playing with hanging toys above her and to the sides, but she only lifts her legs and doesn’t seem interested in rolling or moving sideways yet.

Anyone else the same or have your babies already learnt how to roll yet ?

Thank you
