@Elizabeth same thing with my 18 month old. The doctor made a follow up for 2 months later though to see how he is doing in speech. He still put in the speech therapy referral though
We don't have a follow up scheduled , but I will honestly still look into the referrals and doing the intake for them 🫤
We did an early intervention assessment because my son isn’t talking yet (he babbles and grunts a lot and says “mama” & “go”) he did not qualify for speech therapy and is considered to not have any developmental delays at this time because he is using 6 words in sign language consistently and scored above average for receptive language. 🤷🏼♀️ they said to keep working with him and get him around other kids more.
mines got approved Speech therapy twice a week For an hour🩷
my sons doctor gave my son a referral as soon as i mentioned his speech. he said some words at the time but now he says more so i declined the offer, but i’m able to call them in case i ever change my mind in the future and i think that’s awesome! it’s called infant child connection.
@Heidi that’s good to know! my son knows many signs and words and the only issue is i’m a sahm with no vehicle other than my boyfriends truck, he drives us everywhere so the only kid he really sees is his cousin/my sisters daughter and they’re around the same age. i would love for my son to be around more kids but i’m not sure how because i have no friends 🥹
@Kristen I completely understand that. I’m also a sahm and although we have a couple friends with kids his age that we see here and there, it’s just not enough. I’m going to start bringing him to library story time and see how that goes. The problem is he’s very timid with strangers, and it takes time for him to warm up to people so chances are he’s just gonna be clung to me at story time. But they said just keep bringing him places with other kids. 🤷🏼♀️ maybe you could find something to do on the weekends or whenever your bf has down time and you could all go together? ❤️
@Heidi yes! that’s a great idea i’ve been wanting to take my son to the library but i’m worried he’s just gonna run around and be loud because that’s what he does 😅😂
@Kristen yup lol I always have to remind myself that children have the right to exist in public ❤️ they are gonna be loud and crazy! 🤪 there is usually a children’s section so they know what to expect haha
We got referrals to speech and PT at his 18 months visit because he's more babble y than actually saying words.... And he's also not walking unassisted yet 🫤
