@Winnie thank you! I’m going to continue to try breast milk but will supplement when needed. Don’t want to stress out about it!
I will be supplementing/switching to formula very soon as well! My goal is the 6 month mark in Feb. My supply is so up and down. Some pumps are just barely enough and some pumps are low.
@Tricia 6 months was my goal. It just sucks I’m not producing. I’m gonna start power pumping see if that helps.
If your body isn’t producing enough then it isn’t producing enough. As long as your baby is getting the right nutrition and taken care of you shouldnt beat yourself up. I felt guilty at first. But then I realized it was more important that baby had enough nutrition and a full belly than having breastmilk. Also you can keep trying to BF/pump while supplementing formula. You dont have to pick just breastmilk or formula. You can do both.
@Lindsey reddit says power pump once a day for a week and coconut water and/or body armor drinks.
@Tricia I’ll try that. Thanks!
So basically over 1/2 of moms I talk to and this happens more and more the more we chat- look at it this way- at least you got to- Dr who wasn’t mine put me on a blood pressure pill post partum and tanked my supply 2 weeks in… my baby has been on formula since then and she is doing just fine. So I feel like I was robbed? Yes, so I feel guilty, yes but I also did everything I could to get supply- prolactin was virtually in the pits by the time I was tested. All I’m trying to say is baby is gonna be fine/ just put them in a higher quality one preferably goats milk- they will be fines
You did great for 4 months of breastfeeding! Mom guilt is so real but you have to remind yourself 4 months is amazing for your baby!! I don’t make enough and supplemented with formula from day 1 and there was a good 2-3 months I was able to make enough for my baby. And now my baby is drinking more than what I can make and I supplement with formula again. I’m grateful and proud for my ability to give my baby majority of food from breastmilk! And you should too!
