HOW DO YOU GET ON AN UBER WITH A BABY? Help x

Hey guys my baby is 2 months how do I go about getting an Uber? Do I have to take the car seat? Learn to strap it up? I ideally need my buggy for the whole day so wouldn’t want to take the car seat as an attachment on the buggy as babies can’t be in them for so long and I will be out and about the whole day. How do I go about this?

I'm not sure about ubers, Although a local cab station some of them have car seats of you ask before your journey 😉

As far as I’m aware it’s a legal requirement, you won’t be able to take a baby in an uber or any car without a car seat. Maybe consider using bus or train if available?

Yh u strap the car seat in the car and if your buggy comes with adapters for the car seat the process is quite smooth

You can also attach your car seat on your pram and If your car seat reclines you can leave baby in it a little longer and take them out every once in a a while to ensure their airway is not blocked. You could take a baby carrier with you and swap between the carrier and your travel system. Also not sure if this would work cause I’ve only used it for luggage but there is an app called stasher where you can find places to leave your bags for the day. Maybe you could bring a car seat storage bag and leave it somewhere convenient x

Legally, you don't have to use a car seat in a taxi but this is obviously very unsafe. Yes you'd need to learn how to strap it in (you should know this anyway) and take it with you. You can attach it to the handles of the pram when not using it throughout the day with some bungee cords or straps.

@Charley wow didn’t realise it wasn’t a legal requirement. It should be 😅

Most taxis where i am don't require a carseat you can hold baby on your lap like you would on a bus. Get a carry carseat they're easier to strap in

@Tess it's true i went into very quick labour with my LG, we had just moved home and didn't have everything prepared lol,,,, Long story short the hospital discharged me without a carseat lol and we took an uber and I held LG in my arms, hubby had our eldest on his lap - it wasn't ideal at 4am going into labour lol but we just had to do what we could do x

I have and a do get uber with out a car set - it’s hard if your out and need to rush home and have no car seat. It’s not ideal as it’s not 100% save but they do allow babies with no car seats.

@Tess my local taxis don’t care. You can hold your baby in it and come with the bassinet

We got this buggy called Doona, and it folds into a car seat .. by far the best purchase ever? And it wasn’t even expensive at all considering how much buggies cost nowadays The only problem is that it doesn’t have any storage but really worth having a look

@Ruzica newborn babies can still only be in a doona for 30 minutes at a time

I got a local cab with a car seat guys, Uber was £17.50 cab was £35 but at least it’s sorted and safer 🫣

@Elle (i can't see waves) thanks for the advice I went ahead with this! 💖

@Rachael I dismissed that she said she’s out and about all day.. and Doona can’t go down for the baby to lie flat .. so you’re absolutely right .. don’t consider Doona for the days out

I had to wear my baby a couple times in the harness in taxis. Strapped into me, was probably the safest option when I couldn’t take the seat x

I’ve taken multiple trips throughout my daughter’s life ( 2 years and 2 months ) without her car seat . Our car seat usually stays put in my partners car and I don’t want to fiddle around with it to attach it ( it’s a big car seat with the whole isofix base ) It is unsafe - we only do short emergency trips like that like running late to doctors appointment . Also consider the risk of how long you would be out as a small baby shouldn’t be in a car seat for longer than I think 2 hours , doonas are very controversial - Have very low passing rate as an actual car seat and most except the X doesn’t lay completely flat

@Ghitta do not do this. If you put the seat belt across both of you then if there was a crash the baby would be crushed between your body and the seat belt which would lock solid. This is basically a death wish.

Have you ever braked suddenly and a water bottle under the seat has gone flying, or your handbag has flown off the seat into the foot well? In the event of a crash this would happen to an unrestrained baby. It's so unsafe, the fact that there is no law covering taxis doesn't mean it's ok. Absolute true emergencies should be the only time you have a baby unrestrained in a car, but I can't actually think of an emergency where I would be taking the baby into a car anyway. Medical emergency means an ambulance is needed.

@Justina yeah that is ridiculous and unsafe 😅
