If your child is having a coughing fit and threw up the little food that they managed to eat, do you try and feed them again before they sleep or you do you send them to bed hungry?

She’s been poorly and hungry for a week now and what I mean by that is, very very minimal food. Hardly anything at all. She seems to have lost her appetite completely and is coughing a lot at night. I’ve made so many soups she straight up rejected so we offered her safe foods today, we managed to get her to eat half of a small omelette for dinner which is more than what we could wish for and it’s more than anything she ate these past 7 days and 30 mins later she threw up due to coughing so much.. should I wait it out and try feeding her again? I’m worried she’ll be hungry.

She hasn't ate more than an omelette in 7 days ? I would take her to doctors ASAP

@janel she’s had a few things here and there, some cheese, orange, strawberries, waffles, omelette over the course of a week. Not much being consumed as far as actual meals (breakfast lunch & dinner). Just managed to get her to have like maybe 3 oz of soup before bed so that’s something.

She needs to go to the Dr. If this is going on for a week, it could be a bigger issue.

@Sofia she had a dr appointment last week and her pediatrician said she’s not worried and that it’s normal for a child not to eat much when sick.

I'd offer supper as usual. I wouldn't withhold food from a sick child x

My son was ill had a coughing fit n threw his whole bottle up I tried him again bout 30 minutes later and he ate the whole thing. Always offer food so least u can say u made sure they weren't hungry x
