What to do…

If your baby has a fever of 100? It hasn’t happened just wondering whats the first steps would be. Preparing a head so that I don’t freak out in the moment. 😮‍💨

That's considered a low-grade fever. But under 3 months a doctor should be contacted. Anything over 3 months can be managed with medication ☺️

My son had a fever of 40.3 degrees (104.54 Fahrenheit) a few months ago and the doctors/hospital etc no one knew what was wrong or how to help it, (he kept throwing up any meds given) the ONLY thing that worked was white vinegar!! Rubbed on his hot parts (underarms, back, chest, neck, head etc (NOT private parts) and it went away, honestly worked like a miracle x 100 degrees is still quite low, and it takes a very long time to reach a high temp like 104. It took a whole three days for my sons temp to get to 104

@Diana thanks love! I’m worried since it’s cold where I’m at

@Gabriella oh wow! I’m so glad you found a solution! I can’t imagine how u were feeling. Question: does giving them a cold bath or maybe rubbing a cold towel help? I remember I was young my mom threw me in a cold shower, gave me medicine and vapor rub, I was brand new the next day.

@Stephanie I tried the cold/lukewarm bath and it was only temporary and the fever would go back up again! I think the meds deffs would've worked but my son kept throwing it up cause he hates the taste 🤦🏻‍♀️ And I don't know where you live but here in Aus we're advised not to give vapour rub under 2 years and my son was under 1 at the time 🥲

Fever starts at 100.4. If your baby is under 3 months, that's an immediate ER trip and call to your pediatrician. From 3-6 months, you can treat with Tylenol at that point if needed. Motrin is an option at 6+ months. Approaching 104 is a call to the pediatrician for all kids, 105 is an ER trip. We don't treat for fevers, personally. We treat for discomfort. We let fevers do their thing until our daughter feels uncomfortable. Sometimes our daughter has a high fever but it playing and drinking normally, and we will hold off treating until she is uncomfortable. Sometimes she has a low fever but it miserable, and we'd give Motrin.
