Do you let LO play for short lengths of time in their room alone? (Whilst supervising on the monitor)

I usually pop LO in their room whilst I pop go to the loo, and I've noticed that he enjoys playing with his toys independently when he's in his own room. So sometimes I'll give the bathroom a quick clean whilst he plays and I'm watching on the monitor checking he's safe. Would you say this is okay? Does anyone else do this?

I do this a lot, it helps LO to get used to playing independently and gives us a minute to breathe 😂😂 you're watching on the monitor, so if anything was up, you could be right there!! I'd say you can go chill for a bit longer, give yourself some me time while he enjoys playing

Yeah, kids need to learn to play independently it's how they develop imagination. As long as they're safe it's totally fine.

As Melissa said go put the kettle on and drink a warm cuppa for a change lol

@Melissa @Natalia That's so reassuring, thanks! I love watching him play and chatter independently, because he never does it if I'm anywhere near, but I feel awful closing the door on him! Is that weird? I know he's safe because his room is clear of anything dangerous, and I'm watching him on the monitor with sound on constantly anyway, but somehow I feel like a bad mum for doing it!

I have whole 30-45min showers, bathroom and her bedroom door open so she can check on me if she needs to and she sits playing/reading in her room. When she hears the shower turn off she comes running to help me get my towel 🥰
