Yeah, kids need to learn to play independently it's how they develop imagination. As long as they're safe it's totally fine.

@Melissa @Natalia That's so reassuring, thanks! I love watching him play and chatter independently, because he never does it if I'm anywhere near, but I feel awful closing the door on him! Is that weird? I know he's safe because his room is clear of anything dangerous, and I'm watching him on the monitor with sound on constantly anyway, but somehow I feel like a bad mum for doing it!
I have whole 30-45min showers, bathroom and her bedroom door open so she can check on me if she needs to and she sits playing/reading in her room. When she hears the shower turn off she comes running to help me get my towel 🥰
I do this a lot, it helps LO to get used to playing independently and gives us a minute to breathe 😂😂 you're watching on the monitor, so if anything was up, you could be right there!! I'd say you can go chill for a bit longer, give yourself some me time while he enjoys playing
