I have an ESS. He’s 13 this year. He stopped being completely mental I’d say around 7yo. Was acting like an old man at 10. Diagnosed with arthritis just before 12. We stopped taking him on long walks maybe 2 years ago because he’d be stiff afterwards. He’s quite content with 2 short lead walks now and snuggling up on the sofa for the rest of the day. If it wasn’t for needing the toilet I’m not sure he’d bother to get off the sofa. He had his checkup at the vet last week and he’s still going strong. Plenty of life left in him yet apparently
Mines 12 and she went a bit like this a couple of years ago. I started her on yumove and the difference in her was unbelievable. I've since moved her too Riaflex canine joint plus after her holistic vet said it was the one with most of the good stuff in. No one believes she's 12 cos the way she behaves now is like a younger dog. I've noticed on yumove she was still a little stiff in the mornings but with Riaflex she's been fine.
@Cheryl (Can't See Waves) so glad to see you noticed a difference with the yu move my 9 year old border collie just started showing signs of been stiff when getting off the setee and is no longer jumping up at me which is a good thing but not when you feel it's an age thing. I just got some yumove today so hoping it helps.
Thanks for the replies everyone - all really interesting. My dog will be 7 this year. We've been giving him yumove for the last couple of months or so and I must say, they seem to have made a huge difference for him!
I have a 3 year old Sprocker Spaniel - She’s obviously not older but I did notice her hyper moments & disobedience lowered when she hit 2 1/2 years old. She has signs of arthritis but she also had a cruciate ligament surgery in October 2024, but she’s always be slightly stiff. I wonder if it’s a breed thing because they are so active & agile, they are more prone to things like arthritis as I’ve known quite a few spaniel owners notice their dogs slowing down a little quite early on in the dogs life.
