Suspected autism

If anyone else's 3 yesr old obsessed with taking your phone? My son will go on YouTube and find these edited videos of kids programmes with different effects and watch them over and over, if we take it from him he has a major meltdown.. so we do let him have it for a bit which I don't even want to do but if that's what he likes am I bad for taking it, he isn't really interested for long with other things such as toys.. he gets upset so easy and it's so hard at times

yes my son does that and he does have autism, but he didnt start talking until 2 and there were other signs, lining shit up … all kinds of things.

My son was the same. I had to hide the phone saying that is broken and for the past 4 weeks he has been no longer interested. His new obsession now is the story books. He loves listening to new storytime.

My son doesn’t present in “typical” ways so we’ve had to look into a lot of his traits such as running back and forth is how he stims and verbal stims! He’s always been extra emotional, doesn’t sleep, doesn’t play like a “typical” child of his age! Research ways to help with this! Whatever helps him stimulate tbh! Do what works for you x

Hi, my son is obsessed with technology. He goes from Netflix to Xbox to his tablet playing games. I stopped him watching you tube because it was influencing his behaviour. I just banned it one day and he's moved on. I don't think technology use is specifically linked with autism but I must admit that he isn't interested in other toys either. I wouldn't feel bad about letting your child get acquainted with technology. We live in the age of technology. My son was even I.t. monitor in grade prep and had the job of helping start all the tablets for the kids in his class. Being a parent is hard enough without feeling bad for letting your child use the phone. We watch t.v. and use computers don't we. Maybe just check that what he's watching is age appropriate. I think most kids have a meltdown when you take there favourite thing

My son is level 3 autism! I know exactly what vids ur talking about my son watches like simple songs edits the audio and colors look weird at times! I do let him watch it unless it’s fearful or inappropriate/pop ups. what’s helped accept some are weird looking edits but basically nothing really wrong! his sensory IS different then mine! It might help them stim out or allow them to process sensory the way regular bright lights on a screen might not :) what I do though is limit more then before it has helped with meltdowns! Keep it out of sight to be fair as well and teaching him predictable patterns “all done” with a high five after and positive reinforcement! When he freaks out staying calm or walking away helps my child personally unless he self harms (I hold his hands and hold him)and tell him breathe it’s okay. usually 15min of tablet time twice max a day helps YouTube kids however I’ll play on the tv and it helps transition a bit better (again limiting screen still)
