Unpaid parental leave Question

• Does this need to be a week block? • Can I use this time to go holiday with my son in April? I don’t have much leave and thought to take my annual leave for a week as unpaid parental leave. Not sure if this is allowed? But also happy to make an excuse for work, to take the unpaid week to go abroad with my 2 year old. This will save my annual leave for the year.

I don't think you have to officially give them a reason and officially they can't refuse it but they can ask you to take it another time depending on the needs of the business so I'd ask for it before you book anything. Also just be mindful you only get 18 weeks in total to use before they turn 18.

Thank you so much ❤️ I just don’t want them to think oh she’s going holiday so technically no, as your child is not sick or ill… etc!

If you have Instagram then mortgagefreeleigh did a post about it recently cos she took some just for the sake of it.
