Remedy for cough?

My lb has a cough that seems to be getting worse. It's not dry and all the meds we have right now are unfortunately for dry coughs. Is there an over the counter medicine I can get him? What do you do?

It's not advertised for this reason but piriton is actually good for a cough (do double check with your doctor first though) as I don't know age and they have to be over one. Also Vicks on bottom of feet and socks over the top seems to help a tiny bit, coughs are just awful and they seem to last for ages! Hope your little boy feels better soon xx

If it’s a wet cough your baby needs to get it off his chest so I wouldn’t give any medication

I was suggested piriton when my LG had RSV by the doctor. It worked a charm. She currently has a cold, so I give piriton at night before bed to help minimise the post nasal drip as she's sleeping. I have found the OTC medicines dnt really work, they may suppress the cough for a short amount of time.

There’s nothing you can get over the counter for a cough anyway. Only cough suppressants, but that’s only for adults. Some people find if it’s a tickly cough, then a humidifier can help. I know someone mentioned piriton, it makes you drowsy, and some cough remedies do this to help you sleep rather than stop the cough.

We use a little honey in warm milk or in porridge it helps the throat also. I have my little ones cough now and add honey to my tea x
