The vast majority of the female population who are sexually active will have HPV detected at some stage. It’s carried by men, so if anyone should feel any shame - it’s them!! It won’t stop your conception plans if you have it, they just like to monitor you because HPV can cause cervical cancer if left alone (though usually it’s HPV 16 and 18 that cause cancer). Usually it goes away on its own - the only thing you’re going to find out is whether you need a bit more monitoring over the next few years to make sure it doesn’t progress. You’ll be totally fine doll!!
Thank you both! You’ve made me feel a little bit better about it and I have rebooked the Pap smear.. now hopefully I don’t cancel this one again 😂
Don’t cancel it beauty - take charge of your health. You’re a badass mama who grew a whole ass human! You can get a papsmear! And knowledge is power - even if the results aren’t what you’re hoping for, you can address it early and move on. You can do it!
I went through something similar. I was first tested for HPV (not types 16 or 18) in 2021, and I was very scared. I did a lot of reading, but it only made me more anxious. I got pregnant in 2022 and had another Pap smear in 2023, which again came back HPV positive (not 16 or 18). Since I was already quite worried, I decided to get a colposcopy. Thankfully, the results showed nothing concerning, and the doctors advised me to repeat a Pap smear in 12 months (which I'll be doing soon). So, try not to worry—it shouldn’t affect pregnancy!
I was the exact same! Tested positive and then I did get pregnant again and had my Pap smear in December last year and got my results back today and came back as not detected this time! Don’t be scared x I know the feeling though I was pretty scared after getting the first result after my first bub
