Prenatal Vitamins & Breastfeeing

Hey everyone! My son's almost 17 months old, eats solids, but still nurses a lot. I used to take my prenatals every morning, but ran out a few weeks ago and haven't replaced them. I know you should take them while breastfeeding...do I still need to?

It couldn’t hurt but you are probably fine now. I think a lot of people have issues cause they stop right at birth ad it’s so many hormone changes and then the drop in vitamins. I had a lot more post partum shedding when I stopped right at birth rather than when I kept taking them with my second.

I would say to take calcium, my doctor said to keep taking them 6 months after stopping 🙂

Yes I would!

@Santa Just be aware not to take calcium by itself. Calcium by itself can end up calcifying on soft tissue and around the joints instead of strengthening the bones. Mainly calcium requires vitamin D and K2 for best absorption into the bones. Also be aware that vitamin D depletes magnesium. https://blog.encompasshealth.com/2019/08/28/calcium-without-k2-is-a-heartbreaker/

@Philomena thanks I didn't know that, none of specialists talk about it. I usually forget to take it anyway 🫣🤣

@Santa Yeah I only learned about it recently too!

Yes 🙌🏽 I stopped taking mine for the same reason you’ve said and within a week I felt so so tired! Started taking them again and my energy came back! Only my experience though 🫶🏽

You could also just switch to a regular daily vitamin. I switched to a postnatal that gets delivered to my house.

I would it'll be better for you and I don't I hate pills but my daughters healthy I could just be doing better I think I'll start
