Omeprazole

Hi all, my little boy has silent reflux primarily, does have some sickness during after / feeds but nothing major. We have tried thickener, gaviscon and have been prescribed omeprazole today. He has been in so much pain from this so really hoping this helps. For those who had success with omeprazole, how long before you started to notice a difference? Also , any tips for administering?, we have the dissolvable tablets but seems a lot of the granules get stuck in tip of syringe. Thank you x

We use a calpol syringe as it doesn’t get stuck in the end! Was a game changer for us. I’d say it takes a solid 2 weeks to see a difference. My girl still spits up a lot but isn’t in as much discomfort. She does however get really bad trapped wind so she spends a lot of time farting 🤦🏽‍♀️it always seems to get worse before it gets better with omeprazole too, but stick it out cause once it helps it really really helps x

We have a liquid form and syringe which hasn’t been a problem so far. We noticed a difference from day one with increased sleep. However, she had also been on gaviscon for 2 weeks which we’ve continued 3 times a day.

Thank you both! I’m going to ask out HV about potentially changing to liquid but apparently difficult to get GP to prescribe due to cost! The calpol syringe has definitely made it easier x
