Lip tie found late

My son is four and I’m just finding his lip tie. I had him checked for it THREE times in the hospital since I knew it’s pretty common in my family.
We’ve been brushing his teeth every night I’m I’ve been noticing his front tooth is a bit misshaped? So I inspected more tonight to make sure he wasn’t getting a cavity or something but no he has a terrible lip tie!
I feel terrible for only noticing now but I also trusted the professionals to tell me if he had one and I asked several times to be sure!
We had a terrible breastfeeding journey and I ended up drying up completely around four months pp. We were both relieved! It was so hard. Now I find all of those tears and frustrations could’ve been prevented if someone had taken me seriously!?! I feel like I missed out on something really special with my baby and I’m just mad and grieving how it could’ve/should’ve been. I thought I was just not built for that part of motherhood. Has anyone else experienced this?

I AM THE SAME WAY!! My son (2yo) would not latch on after birth and I tried so hard thinking something was wrong with me. I asked them to check for lip and tongue tie and they said he was fine. At his most recent dentist appointment she told me that he definitely has a tongue and lip tie and that at least it was caught now and we can get it fixed soon.

They don’t do much for a lip tie (in the UK). Usually it matures and moves up/makes no difference - I can see by your son he has no gap so it’s not a significant one.

My breastfeeding journey wasn’t the best due to the tie but it is what it is x

Also the reason they don’t touch them in the UK as snipping can lead to a very gummy smile

really ? Now I’m wondering if I had one and they messed up on mine cause I have a gummy smile 😭

Yesss my son had a lip and tongue tie breast feeding was hell. Had it snipped around 13m really annoyed aswell. Stopped feeding around 11m so pissed because I kept asking professionals.

Hey 👋🏻 dental assistant here you might want to follow up with your dentist there seems to also be a cavity in the middle of his two front teeth or may be a large chunk of calculus maybe if you could put a different angle picture in the comments but definitely try to get in to see the dentist 🦷 🪥😁

My daughter was born with this and it was missed. I was laughed out the door by my GP though and said unless it’s affecting her speech or ability to eat then there’s nothing they can do…

hey that’s was my thought! I love heard lip ties can cause tooth decay in some cases?

His tooth has grown around the tie but i think you’re right! As soon as my work insurance kicks in I’ll be taking him! Just can’t afford it right now! Still paying off my own trip from last year 😭

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

I feel like just a milk cow

Hi I have a 16 day old via c section, I'm a FTM never having been around babies before as I am the youngest of my household and from a small family. My husband is fantastic with our little one. But ever since I've had the baby I just feel like the only thing I'm good for is producing milk. I feel disconnected from my husband like the only reason he's around is because am producing milk. We were having some issues before the baby and we're struggling it took a while to feel like he was onboard even though he said he was from the moment we found out. I dunno if I'm feeling like a spear part because I'm lacking confidence with baby or because I feel like he wouldn't mind being a single dad. Is this postpartum hormones or something else?

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.
