3 moths is when your supply regulates, and now it's supply and demand.
Latch more. The milk will come I promise. Almost 5 months into EBF and he had the fussiness a few times (because of wanting more) so I latch him extra times throughout the day for a few days and then I can tell my supply is increased because his fussiness goes away. Also it’s natural for a EBF baby to only eat 3-4oz a session for almost the entire first year. Your body keeps up with the nutritional value so you might think baby isn’t eating enough but they likely are. Don’t panic. I wouldn’t add the formula personally, your body CAN and will do this.
@Amanda @Senia Thank you both so much 🥹 I’m finding I have a slow let down and every feed is a battle because she is so impatient and then when it finally comes she’s feeding away then suddenly nothing is coming out but she’s still hungry. So every feed in the day has been so stressful. I eat frequent but I need to hydrate way more that’s true x
It’s so frustrating when baby is fussy, wants milk but I physically am unable to provide the extra amount 🥺 I hope it’ll increase !
3 months is when your supply regulates and your boobs don’t feel as full but there is still lots of milk there, the engorgement that you’re maybe used to has stopped. I went through this same panic 😂 I give my baby expressed milk in a bottle but keep a size 0 teat so he doesn’t prefer the bottle to boob. Although he loves his bed time bottle of formula (started this when I got nipple thrush and just carried it on), he never stopped wanting boob.
I also offered size 0 nipples but she did eventually only want the bottle. I was hydrating well but not eating enough and lost the weight too fast so I slowly stopped producing over 2.5 months. It was so sad for me also watching my baby for a few days tell me she's still hungry and I wasn't producing. I got to the point I was feeding baby but I also needed to pump but baby wouldn't latch because let down too long 2-5mins and the bottle was right away. So there i am feeling my let down come in but baby wouldn't latch. This over a few days told my body milk isn't needed. So again to quickly get it up latch, eat, and hydrate. I wish you better luck than I had.
Took my son a good few weeks to get hang proper now I'm nearly 5 months ebf and he feeds really wel and my supply is good . Persevere mama your doin great xx
@Amanda bless you I’m sorry you went through that it sounds so stressful but it also sounds like you tried your best for baby and thats what matters❤️ We can only do our best. I will try what you said. These replies have motivated me to try harder and not go for the formula yet. So thanks x
@Harley im happy for you 🥹 And thank you, i will try my best ❤️
Latch more, eat more and hydrate that should keep up with baby. Adding in formula is fine for her tummy but if you bottle feed she will slowly prefer the speed of the nipple over your boob then it's a slippery slope to full time bottle feeding. I made this mistake as well as not eating enough and by 5.5 months my baby was only bottle feeding and I wasn't producing enough. Now she's 6 months and only forumla fed.
